Drunk Altoona Man Arrested For Attempting To Break Into Cars: Police

An Altoona man was arrested after police responded to a report of someone attempting to break into vehicles near UPMC.

Traves Poe, 40, was charged with theft from a motor vehicle, disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana/drug paraphernalia, and public intoxication after police arrived at the intersection of 4th Street and Howard Avenue about 4:19 p.m. Friday, June 13.

Police dispatched them to the area near UPMC, specifically to locate Poe at Unique Tobacco and Convenience at 320 Howard Avenue. Police approached Poe and found him under the influence of alcohol. Police searched Poe and claimed he had marijuana and drug paraphernalia on him at the time.

Surveillance cameras captured Poe entering a vehicle and attempting to enter numerous others in the neighborhood, authorities said.

Poe was placed on probation in Blair County Prison and ordered to post a $20,000 bond for the most recent allegations.

Altoona police want to encourage folks to secure their vehicles and remove valuables, as they receive numerous complaints about vehicle intrusions and thefts.
