An unlicensed hit-and-run driver was apprehended in Central Florida following a struggle with a deputy.
After a recent hit-and-run crash was reported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at the scene on Cypress Parkway at Solivita Boulevard in Poinciana. Law authorities discovered two vehicles: a 2026 Cadillac car and a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup.

According to PCSO, the suspect declined to identify himself, claiming that he was not required to do so. According to local law officials, he then physically resisted attempts to obtain a fingerprint for identification, ultimately failing by seizing the deputy’s arm and digging his fingers into it.

Sims denied being the driver, despite a witness stating otherwise, according to PCSO. According to local law officials, Sims also had the truck’s keys and a small amount of marijuana.
However, he did not have a valid driver’s license. His license was suspended five times for failing to pay traffic charges. After earning 12 points in less than a year, his license was also suspended.
Josh Sims was detained and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting with violence, driving with a suspended or revoked license, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting without violence, and leaving the scene of a crash.
