A woman was detained Wednesday evening after deputies reported erratic driving behavior on State Route 274 in Rushsylvania, according to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities claimed an off-duty deputy called deputies shortly before 6:30 p.m. to report a black SUV driving recklessly. The vehicle was seen crossing the centerline and off the road many times before momentarily stopping at a gas station in Rushsylvania.

Deputies eventually found the vehicle, a 2013 Honda Pilot driven by 47-year-old Shawna Bensman, as it drove eastbound on State Route 274 and displayed the same driving conduct.
Officials stated that deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop. When Bensman eventually stopped, deputies noticed symptoms of intoxication.
According to authorities, Bensman initially refused to leave the truck but eventually cooperated after numerous orders. Deputies said that she was unable to pass field sobriety tests owing to an unsteady balance.
Officials said Bensman resisted arrest but was eventually taken into prison without incident. She was taken to the Logan County Jail, but refused to produce a urine sample.
Bensman received a ticket for driving under the influence and is expected to appear in court next week. She was eventually released to a sober driver.
The incident is still under investigation.
