A woman was taken into custody after allegedly harassing visitors and assaulting a police officer at Linda Vista Recreation Center last weekend, authorities said.
According to the San Diego Police Department, officers were dispatched to the recreation facility about 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, after receiving reports of a woman acting violently toward others on the site.
According to police, witnesses reported the woman was making racial comments, which caused worry among adults and children at the facility.
When authorities arrived, they found the women at the skate park area. Police claim that when confronted, she became aggressive and disregarded their instructions.
During the incident, the woman allegedly resisted arrest, causing an officer to place her on the ground. Police allege that when the officer was attempting to place her in handcuffs, the woman bit him on the left hand, causing pain, edema, and an abrasion.
The cop was treated at a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Paramedics checked the woman at the site as a precaution before taking her into jail. She was subsequently put into jail on several offenses, including delaying or obstructing officers, resisting an officer with violence, and committing a felony while on bail.
Her identity was not immediately revealed.
No other injuries were reported.
An inquiry into the incident is ongoing.
