A man is facing charges after allegedly leading deputies on a high-speed motorcycle chase through Tyler, according to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office.
Chase Lindsey, 23, has been charged with avoiding arrest and possessing a controlled substance in connection with the incident, which occurred late Friday night.
According to officials, the pursuit began just after 11 p.m. on Troup Highway near Shiloh Road. According to investigators, Lindsey ran a red light at the intersection of Shiloh Road and Paluxy Drive and accelerated in an attempt to flee a deputy.
Authorities reported that the motorcycle reached speeds of around 90 mph while heading westbound on Shiloh Road.
Lindsey crashed his motorcycle on Rice Road and Plantation Drive, bringing the pursuit to an end.
Lindsey had road rash and was hospitalized before being jailed, officials said. He was eventually released after posting bail totaling $15,000.
According to an arrest affidavit, deputies discovered a THC vape in Lindsey’s backpack after the crash.
The case is still under investigation.
