A DuPage County resident has won $1 million with an Illinois Lottery quick ticket purchased at a Lombard gas station.
The winner, who preferred to remain anonymous and described himself as “Lucky,” purchased the $50 Millionaire Club ticket at a Mobil gas station at 435 W. Roosevelt Road, a location he claims he frequents.
The man stated that he first purchased one lost ticket before choosing to try again, scratching the second ticket during a break at work and realizing he had won the lottery.
“I just celebrated my birthday a few weeks ago, so this win feels like the perfect gift,” he said.
The winner stated that he intends to use the earnings to invest in his family’s future, buy a new home, upgrade his clothing, and donate a portion to a local hospital.
According to the Illinois Lottery, the Mobil gas station that sold the winning ticket will get a $10,000 bonus, which represents 1% of the jackpot.
