Vincent Stephens was serving a 20-year sentence for earlier trafficking and firearm crimes when the operation took place. While in prison, Vincent connected Renee with another convict and oversaw the trafficking operation. Renee sold fentanyl from her flat, and her young child was present during multiple drug transactions.

A confidential informant and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement made three controlled fentanyl purchases from Renee Stephens. Renee used the phone to connect with Vincent, who was overseeing the transactions from prison.

The FDLE issued a search warrant at Renee Stephens’ residence and discovered fentanyl and narcotics paraphernalia, including scales and a kilo press.

Investigators determined that Vincent Stephens utilized Facebook to plan cocaine transactions from prison.

Renee Stephens was convicted in January 2026 of Conspiracy to Traffic in fentanyl (28 grams or more), two counts of trafficking in fentanyl (4 grams to 14 grams), three counts of unlawful use of a two-way communication device, three counts of trafficking in fentanyl, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Vincent Stephens was convicted of conspiracy to traffic fentanyl (28 grams or more).

The Stephens will spend their terms with the Florida Department of Corrections. According to the Florida Attorney General, Vincent will serve his term consecutively with the 20-year sentence he is now serving.
