Four people have been charged after police confiscated drugs and firearms in Evanston, north suburban Chicago, over the weekend.
The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m., when officers went to a complaint of numerous people wearing hoodies and face masks near two vehicles parked beside a vacant property in the 1100 block of McDaniel Avenue, according to police.

Police detected marijuana coming from one of the vehicles and searched it, which contained five people. Police found marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, and suspected banned narcotics in backpacks inside the vehicle. A .357 Magnum revolver was also found on the passenger side of the automobile.
Police stated no unlawful materials were discovered in the second vehicle, and its passengers were released on the scene.
Six persons were arrested, and two of them were eventually freed without prosecution.
During a property search at the police station, officers discovered a loaded weapon. A 45-caliber handgun is stowed within a backpack’s concealed compartment.
Three Chicago men were arrested, including 20-year-old Moe Kyaw, on felony counts of armed violence, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a controlled drug, and misdemeanor possession of cannabis.
Jayden Herrera, 20, has been charged with unauthorized possession of a controlled substance and possession of cannabis. An 18-year-old from Chicago was also charged with a misdemeanor count of cannabis possession.
All three guys were freed from detention before their next court appearances.
A 17-year-old has been charged with one felony count of aggravated possession of a weapon and is set to appear in juvenile court.
The automobile on the scene was seized and detained pending an administrative hearing.
Herrera has a court appearance scheduled for Wednesday, while Kyaw is expected in court on May 20.
