Cook County Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the gunman who shot and killed a teenage girl Friday night.
Meeyah Smith, 16, and a 35-year-old man were in the 1200 block of East 83rd Street shortly before 11 p.m. when an unknown man approached them on foot, pulled out a revolver, and fired bullets in their direction, according to Chicago police.
Both victims were sent to Jackson Park Hospital.
Smith was shot in the throat and proclaimed dead in the hospital. The individual received a gunshot wound to the right thigh and is in good condition.
Cook County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the individuals responsible.
The public is cautioned not to approach or capture suspects, who should be regarded as armed and dangerous.
Area 2 Detectives are currently investigating the case and are requesting anyone who witnessed it or has information that will help identify the shooter to come forward.
