According to initial MSHP reports, Troop F was alerted at 8:20 p.m. Saturday about a man pushing a woman off a boat in Davey Hollow Cove at Lake of the Ozarks.

While on their route to the scene, Water Patrol Division troopers saw Peters’ boat, an orange 2023 Hayaari Marine H44Z, at the 10-mile mark of the main channel.

Troopers then took their boat over to speak with Peters, but he sped away, resulting in a high-speed chase.

The pursuit came to an end when Peters reached Mill Creek Cove, abandoned the boat at a wharf at Walleye Drive, and fled on foot. He fled through a neighborhood and into the woods before troopers apprehended him just before 8:45 p.m., according to court papers.

Court documents describe Peters as having slowed speech, bloodshot eyes, and a strong alcohol smell. Troopers then asked him to take a preliminary breath test and a chemical breath test, but he refused.

According to court records, an open alcoholic drink was discovered near the boat’s driver’s seat.

Peters was arrested at the Morgan County Jail on Saturday night, but he was released the next day on bond. His first court appearance is planned for Tuesday at 9 a.m.
