An Omaha woman who was sentenced earlier this year for her 4-year-old son’s fentanyl-related death has been arrested on probation violations.

Paris Hunt, 23, was sentenced to five years probation in January after her son discovered a drug on her nightstand. She died in March 2022.

Douglas County District Court Judge W. Russell Bowie sentenced Hunt to probation after she pled not guilty to child abuse, which resulted in the death of her son Phoenix.

According to Nebraska court documents, paperwork was filed on February 28 stating she had breached the terms of her probation and post-release supervision.

Court records state: Hunt skipped three office visits with her probation officer, and attempts to contact her at home or over the phone were unsuccessful.

According to the violation report, she tested positive for fentanyl, cocaine, and marijuana on Jan. 28 and acknowledged using them last on Jan. 27.

She also missed drug tests and still owes $1,475 in probation expenses. Her probation officer also did not obtain evidence that she had completed a mental health evaluation, a substance dependency evaluation, or a co-occurring evaluation by February 28.

Hunt received an arrest warrant on March 12, and she was detained on a bench warrant Tuesday morning.

As of Wednesday evening, her next court appearance has not been scheduled.
