On Thursday evening, a freeway crash in Pinal County left two individuals dead and badly injured another.
According to the Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred around 6:15 p.m. on I-10’s westbound lanes near Picacho, approximately five miles outside of Eloy.
Troopers say a black Jeep Cherokee SUV was going eastbound when it suddenly turned left, crossing the median into westbound traffic. The Jeep then collided with a white Ram pickup truck head-on.
The driver and passenger of the Jeep were ejected and proclaimed dead on the scene. The Ram pickup driver was evacuated to a local hospital after suffering significant injuries. Investigators have yet to identify the two victims.
Troopers are investigating what caused the Jeep driver to veer into oncoming traffic. The crash is still under investigation.
