Two Cedar Rapids men are accused of stealing about $200,000 in copper wire in two separate cases.
Travis Vomacka, 43, was charged last year with stealing $130,000 in copper and wiring from a locomotive company during two break-ins. His case is still underway.
Joshua Marak, 36, was recently charged after allegedly driving Vomacka’s truck to Mercy Medical Center in June. Security footage shows both guys wearing safety gear and taking copper cables worth more than $64,000 from the hospital’s building site.
When the additional accusations surfaced, Marak was already in jail for a probation violation.
