At least five armed robbery suspects were apprehended on Tuesday after a botched robbery followed by a standoff with police at a cannabis dispensary near downtown Los Angeles.
According to LAPD Officer Kevin Terzes, officers were called at 4:40 p.m. Monday to the 1000 block of East 18th Street and Griffin Avenue, south of the Santa Monica (10) Freeway, for a robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
When officers arrived, the suspects fled farther inside the building and hid from the cops, but two of them were apprehended, according to accounts from the site.
Officers requested a SWAT team, which resulted in a standoff, Terzes explained. SWAT forces entered the building and apprehended the remaining suspects about 1 a.m. The standoff was called off Tuesday, according to authorities.
