The allegations come from a reported shooting at 1 a.m. on July 25 outside a McDonald’s on 13 W. Rand Road.

Officers arrived to a complaint of shots fired and discovered four 16-year-olds in a Honda Pilot who informed police that a dark-colored automobile had driven up next to them at the drive-thru.

According to authorities, the driver of the vehicle attempted to engage with the teenagers before driving away while pointing a black revolver out the window toward the ground. The teenagers claimed they heard a gunshot before the vehicle raced away.

There were no injuries recorded. The teenagers called 911 to report the event.

Suspect Located: Around 1:40 a.m. the same morning, an officer noticed a dark-colored automobile similar to the suspect’s near Kensington Road and Wheeling Road.

Before initiating a traffic stop, the officer followed the automobile into a nearby neighborhood and took down the license plate number.

According to police, the motorist left at high speed, passing red lights and exceeding the speed limit. For safety reasons, the pursuit was canceled. The suspect was eventually identified as Rockwell.

He was hauled into arrest in Sterling on July 31.

What’s next: Rockwell appeared at a detention hearing on August 2 and was ordered detained in jail.

His next court appearance is planned for August 29 at 9 a.m. in the Rolling Meadows courthouse.
