Authorities confirmed that the body discovered in a shallow grave in Mississippi belonged to a Kansas City woman.
On August 15, 2025, Lawrence County Sheriff Ryan Everett announced that the body had been identified as La’Datra Williams, a 26-year-old mother of four. She disappeared a few months ago, according to her family members. Everett stated that her remains were recovered in a shallow grave on July 14.
In this instance, Charles Sims was taken into custody and accused of first-degree murder. Authorities claimed Sims led them to Williams’ body. He was denied bond on July 22.
Williams’ family believes that justice has not been fully served and that Sims was not acting alone.
According to investigators, Williams was one of several women who had intimate relationships with Sims. He is thought to have four or five partners and is the father of at least 22 children.
There are allegations that Sims may be heading a hidden group, which some outlets refer to as a cult. Everett stated that Sims’ property contains compound-like elements but did not label it.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover Williams’ funeral expenses.
