Fugitive Wanted For Mississippi Murder Discovered Hiding Under A Bed In Tennessee: U.S. Marshals

The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) arrested a man wanted for murder in Mississippi on Tuesday at a residence near Memphis, bringing an end to a multi-day manhunt. Malcolm Kohn, a fugitive from Leflore County, Mississippi, was apprehended by the USMS Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force (TRVFTF) and is currently being extradited back to Mississippi.

The investigation began when a gunman shot Joshua Brewer in front of a Greenwood, Mississippi, business on August 4, 2025. Brewer was taken to a local hospital but died as a result of his injuries.

The following day, a warrant was issued for Malcolm Kohn’s arrest for the offense. The case was adopted by the USMS Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force for a fugitive investigation.

The Gulf Coast Task Force discovered that Kohn was at a Memphis apartment after receiving a tip. The USMS Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force was called in to assist with the investigation. The TRVFTF, with the assistance of the Memphis Police Department Fugitive Apprehension Team, apprehended Kohn on August 13, 2025, at a home in Memphis’ 900 block of Greer Street.

Kohn was discovered hiding beneath a bed and originally refused to submit to law enforcement. Marshals sent Marko, their K-9, resulting in Kohn’s prompt surrender. He was apprehended without incident and transferred to the Shelby County Jail, where he is awaiting extradition to Mississippi to face murder charges.

The United States Marshals Service’s Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is a collaborative, multi-agency organization that operates in Western Tennessee.

Members of the task force include Deputy U.S. Marshals; Shelby, Fayette, Tipton, and Gibson county sheriff’s deputies; Memphis and Jackson police officers; Special Agents from the Tennessee Department of Correction; and the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Since 2021, the TRVFTF has successfully apprehended over 3,000 violent criminals and sexual predators.
