3 Men Charged With Passing Counterfeit Cash At Multiple Sheetz

Three men are facing charges after police say they targeted various Sheetz locations in Luzerne County and attempted to pass hundreds of dollars in counterfeit cash.

According to the Wilkes-Barre Police Department, the following three men are facing charges after an investigation found they used five counterfeit $100 bills to add $500 in digital currency to a PayPal or Cash App account:

13 Arrested in Florida Multi-Agency Child Exploitation Sting, ‘Operation Twelve Parsecs’

  • Ryan Damon McQueen, 38, of Brooklyn
  • Tyree J. Smith, 38, of New Jersey,

Police said they began an investigation after the three suspects went to Sheetz in Wilkes-Barre Township to carry out the scam. It was quickly determined that the three had reportedly committed a similar scam at Sheetz in Plains Township and Wilkes-Barre.

The males then attempted to defraud a Sheetz in Larksville, but the cashier refused, resulting in their arrest, according to authorities.

McQueen, Smith, and Fonseca face charges of forgery, conspiracy to conduct , theft, and possession of criminal tools.

Their bond is set at $200,000 apiece, and they are being held at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.
