The suspect was taken into custody and charged.

According to police, at 7:28 p.m. on August 31, the 26-year-old lady was in front of a property when she got into a verbal confrontation with Steward, who pulled out a weapon and shot. The victim was struck in the chest and sent to the University of Chicago Hospital, where she was declared dead.

In a separate case, Ramiro Sanchez, 39, was charged with first-degree murder in connection with a killing in South Lawndale.

Sanchez, who lives in the 2700 block of South Christiana Avenue, was detained on Monday at 12:58 p.m. on the 2800 block of South Keeler. Sanchez was identified as the criminal who, less than two hours earlier, took part in the deadly shooting of a 48-year-old man on the 2600 block of South Kolin Avenue.

The culprit was taken into custody and charged.

According to police, the 48-year-old male was standing outdoors on the 2600 block of South Kolin when Sanchez approached, pulled out a weapon, and shot the victim multiple times in the abdomen. According to police, Sanchez then departed the scene.

The victim was sent to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Steward and Sanchez are expected to appear in Cook County Circuit Court in Chicago on Thursday for detention hearings.
