Lakeland Sibling Duo Detained After Failed Bedroom Hiding Attempt

A Lakeland brother and sister found themselves in hot water with the law on Saturday after a deceitful attempt to evade arrest. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) arrested Rhonda Lee Woodsby-Alderman, 41, and James Lee Alderman, 43, when officers discovered Woodsby-Alderman hiding in her home.

Deputies arrived at a property on Rustic Court to serve two active warrants on Woodsby-Alderman for violation of probation for petit theft. Nobody answered the door, despite their best efforts.

Her brother, James Alderman, arrived at the home shortly thereafter. Deputies explained why they were there, and Alderman walked inside the house. He returned briefly, alerting the deputies that his sister was not present.

When the deputies entered the home, they discovered Woodsby-Alderman hiding in a bedroom, which verified their suspicions. She told deputies that her brother was well aware of her presence and had discussed it with her before returning outside to speak with them.

Both people were eventually apprehended.

Rhonda Woodsby-Alderman was arrested on her previous warrants and charged with resisting an officer. Her brother, James Alderman, was also arrested and charged with resisting and obstructing an officer.

The PCSO stated that both siblings have criminal records. DWLSR, Tormenting an Animal, False ID to LEO, Marijuana Possession, and Methamphetamine Possession are among Woodsby-Alderman’s previous charges. Her brother, James Alderman, has been charged with battery, motor vehicle theft, burglary, grand theft, and possession of a controlled substance.
