Authorities confirmed that the body they discovered earlier today was that of the missing hiker.
Authorities launched a search and rescue operation in the Columbia River Gorge after receiving reports of an overdue hiker near Wiesendanger Falls.
The original report arrived at 8:15 a.m. today.
Shortly later, another 911 call reported the discovery of a body in the same general region where the hiker had been reported missing.
Officials confirmed about 2:30 p.m. that the body retrieved belonged to the missing hiker.
The hiker was a 49-year-old male.
The medical examiner arrived on the scene to undertake an investigation, assisted by the search and rescue team.
Authorities notified the hiker’s family.
