According to ICE officials, one of the men broke free from his handcuffs and choked a female Border Patrol agent while being taken to Montgomery Processing Center.

Officials stated that they were in FlexiCuffs.

The two men were apprehended during a multi-agency operation targeting dangerous felons near Spring, Texas. According to ICE, Padron Barron has illegally entered the United States at least three times and was previously removed in December 2022 and January 2023. This was Padron Mendez’s first encounter in the United States.

Authorities say the men were apprehended beyond Conroe’s city boundaries.
