Police accuse Tate of exiting the vehicle and escaping behind a nearby residence during his arrest. Investigators later caught Tate in the garden section of a local Walmart.

After additional investigation, investigators discovered that Tate was filmed on camera at three different adjacent homes while fleeing police.

The homeowner’s video surveillance caught Tate climbing a fence while holding what seems to be a black gun in his right hand.

Another homeowner informed the police that Tate was in their driveway, hiding beneath their car, as captured by the surveillance camera. The footage shows Tate holding his phone, but the pistol is no longer visible.

An employee at the Walmart where Tate was detained told police that he was caught on the store’s video cameras exiting the garage of the third residence before entering Walmart.

Police spoke with the homeowner, who informed an officer that they encountered Tate in their garage. According to the homeowner, they unlocked the garage door, and Tate raced to the local Walmart.

Police discovered a black and orange jacket in the garage that matched the garment Tate wore while fleeing from police.

The next day, authorities tracked Tate’s movements from the car he fled to the local Walmart.

Police discovered a gun in a small aluminum shack behind two pieces of steel roofing.

According to court filings, the gun was a Glock model 30S. The Glock model 30S, a 45-caliber pistol, was fitted with a Glock switch. The gun contained nine live rounds. 45-caliber ammunition: eight rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber.

Investigators believe Tate was carrying the same gun seen on security video.

Court documents reveal that Tate received a sentence of five to twenty years in jail in 2009, following his conviction for the felony of carjacking.

Tate is facing federal accusations for being a felon in possession of a handgun and knowingly having a machine gun.
