U.S. Weather Alert: Snow Possible from Maine to Oregon Late This Week

A coast-to-coast stretch of snow is forecast late this week as storm systems hit numerous U.S. regions on Thursday and Friday, bringing rain, wind, and light to moderate snowfall.

According to the National Weather Service, a Pacific storm will move throughout the Northwest through Thursday, bringing low-elevation rain, strong gusts, and mountain snow to parts of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Snow levels are likely to drop in higher elevations, resulting in hazardous mountain passes and restricted visibility.

Meanwhile, another system across the Northeast will continue to deliver gusty to strong gusts, sporadic rain, and light snow showers to New England through Thursday night. Light accumulations may occur on elevated areas throughout Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire.

Between these two systems, portions of the Upper Midwest—including Wisconsin, Minnesota, and northern Michigan—may get sporadic snow showers as colder air filters in behind the front.

Meteorologists believe this is one of the earliest broad symptoms of winter, with snowfall expected across more than 2,000 miles, from Maine to Oregon. However, accumulations are predicted to be low in most regions.

Drivers in higher elevations or northern states should check revised predictions and prepare for shifting road conditions Thursday and Friday.
