Cold Front To Bring Texas A Drastic Drop In Temperatures And An Expected Hard Freeze

We thought we were done with the heat after turning back the clocks an hour last weekend. But Texas’ weather has other plans. The next few days, especially in the afternoon, will seem more like summer than October.

The San Antonio area will warm up for the rest of the week before a cold front sweeps in. According to the National Weather Service, high temperatures on Friday, November 7, might break records for this time of year, with highs in the 90s.

The high temperature for Wednesday, November 5, is expected to be 82 degrees, followed by 83 degrees on Thursday, November 6. Temperatures are expected to rise significantly on Friday and Saturday, November 8, with NWS meteorologists predicting highs of 89 and 88 degrees, respectively. Austin will have similarly high temperatures, while Uvalde and Del Rio are projected to reach 90 degrees.

However, the milder weather is not likely to last long. The NWS predicts that a dry cold front will bring colder temperatures by Sunday, November 9, and into early next week, with highs expected to be below average. On Monday, November 10, temperatures in San Antonio could reach the upper 60s, but the NWS predicts a high of 71 and a low of 53. Low temperatures will fall into the 40s in certain parts of the region.

According to the NWS, the cold front could hit Texas late Saturday or early Sunday before settling in. Meteorologists also warn that San Antonio may see a breezy Sunday once the front arrives. The NWS also warns that lows in some areas of the region may fall into the 30s.

The cold front is not anticipated to stay, but sections of the Texas Panhandle may face a hard freeze Monday morning, November 11, with meteorologists predicting a 40 to 70% probability of that happening. In Texas’ most northern region, high temperatures are predicted to remain in the mid-40s, with lows in the upper 20s.
