Last week, the FBI Miami and the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office worked together to make a number of arrests and seizures in South Florida as part of Operation Viper, an ongoing endeavor.

The two-day crackdown, which ran from Thursday, May 29, to Friday, May 30, was aimed at removing local dangers involving drugs, guns, and violent crimes.

According to a news statement on the FBI’s website, the operation resulted in 21 arrests and the recovery of seven firearms, among other enforcement actions.

Federal prosecutions for two persons have already been initiated as a result of the joint investigations conducted by the FBI’s Violent Crime and Fugitive Task Force and FBI Miami.

The authorities executed a single house search warrant to broaden the scope of their investigation into these criminal acts.

The FBI has taken a firm stance against threat actors in the region, stating, “The FBI is dedicated to investigating threat actors who not only commit violent crimes but also make our communities and citizens feel less safe,” Ryan James, assistant special agent in charge of FBI Miami, said.

“We will not accept such unlawful behavior in South Florida. According to the same press release, “the FBI and Miami Field Office will continue to combat violent crime on all fronts” through their violent crime task teams and initiatives like Operation Viper.

Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz commended the partnership’s success: “Our collaboration with the FBI continues to produce tangible benefits in the fight against violent crime. If you bring firearms, drugs, or violence into our communities, we will locate you and take action. I’m pleased with our Northside District deputies’ tireless efforts and appreciative for the help of our federal partners, who share our dedication to keeping Miami-Dade secure,” she said. This proactive approach echoes the FBI’s overall policy to combat violent crime, which the public may learn more about on their official website.
