Multiple People Apprehended In After-hours Club Raid In Third Ward

Multiple people were apprehended after an after-hours club raid in Third Ward.

The Houston Police Department and other local and state officials stormed the Greenwood Lounge on Emancipation Avenue and Barbee Street at 3 a.m. on Saturday.

“This initiative is a part of the mayor’s commitment to tackle after-hours clubs and the issues that it brings,” said Assistant Chief Adrian Rodriguez with the Houston Police Department. “We have a lot of reports and complaints from the citizens of these after-hours clubs with the loud noise, DWIs coming out of here, just people not being responsible.”

It was unclear what violations were discovered and what charges the arrested individuals will face.

“These facilities don’t have any permits, they’re selling alcohol, there’s all kinds of illegal activity that’s going on and we’re here to send a message to Houston that this type of behavior is not going to be tolerated with these after-hours clubs.”
