A Conroe Municipal Court Judge has returned to the bench after being arrested and charged with driving under the influence and illegally carrying a handgun early Wednesday morning, according to Montgomery County Court of Law documents.
Judge William Waggoner was elected to the Conroe Municipal Court in 2022.

In October, he also announced his campaign for Justice of the Peace in Montgomery County Precinct 1.
However, court records suggest that Judge Waggoner has had legal issues of his own.
He’s been arrested at least three times before.
The first charge was for escaping arrest in 2008. According to court documents, he completed a diversion program and had the charge dismissed.
In 2014, he was arrested for DWI. However, the assistant district attorney at the time dismissed the charge, citing “insufficient evidence.”
In 2017, he was arrested for DWI in San Antonio. According to court records, he accepted a plea agreement and followed court orders to avoid being convicted. The charges were dismissed.
“The City is aware that our Municipal Judge, Will Waggoner, was arrested early this morning for a possible DWI and UCW. No one is above the law, or immune from making mistakes. It is an unfortunate incident and as with any arrest, one is not guilty until proven so. Judge Waggoner is an elected official and he is still the sitting Municipal Judge. We will not comment on the facts of the case.”
