According to court documents, officers observed a Chevrolet Silverado sitting in the restaurant’s drive-thru lane with its brake lights turned on. When they approached the truck, they discovered Elliott London, 31, asleep in the driver’s seat with a Glock 22 on his lap.

They awoke London and got him and the pistol out of the car without difficulty, but they discovered two empty bottles of the prescription antihistamine promethazine next to him.

When investigators checked London’s record, they discovered that he is a felon in Missouri and is not permitted to own a firearm and that his Glock 22 was not registered.

London was arrested on suspicion of DWI, and officers did an inventory of his truck before towing it. Their alleged results include:

  • Two bottles of Promethazine, one partially filled and one empty, that were not prescribed to London. A creme soda bottle appeared to contain more Promethazine.
  • 16+ assorted pills classified as schedule-2 drugs
  • A .89-gram baggie of material that tested positive for cocaine
  • A 22.72-gram baggie of material that tested positive for fentanyl and meth

When questioned, London reportedly told police that he wasn’t intoxicated or high and that he understood he wasn’t supposed to have a gun, but “it’s better than being dead,” so he’ll take the punishment. He also stated that he did not recall driving to Church’s.

London was placed into the Jackson County Detention Center on accusations of second-degree drug trafficking, unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of a prohibited narcotic, all of which are felonies. He has a $90,000 bail.
