Illegal aliens caught blasting guns on packed highway and shooting at family in road-rage attack: cops

A viral video of gunmen firing from a Dallas bridge on New Year’s has resulted in many arrests and immigration holds, with police alleging the suspects were involved in multiple incidents of gun violence across North Texas.

The Dallas Police Department announced the arrests on Tuesday, identifying Anthony Acevedo, 20, and Jose Alarcon Sanchez, 18, both of Grand Prairie, as two of the suspects seen in multiple social media videos firing guns from the Margaret McDermott Bridge over Interstate 30 just west of downtown Dallas.

According to authorities, the irresponsible gunshot, which was caught on tape and broadcast around the world, generated quick public indignation and a large-scale inquiry.

Detectives from the DPD’s Central Patrol Division and Special Investigations Unit conducted an active and thorough investigation, collaborating with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the United States Attorney’s Office. Investigators found around 100 bullet casings near the bridge.

During the inquiry, police discovered that Alarcon-Sanchez had been detained earlier that morning by the Grand Prairie Police Department for a similar firearms infraction on January 1, 2026.

As the investigation progressed, detectives discovered evidence linking 25-year-old Anderson Derce Lara to a different road-rage shooting in November. Police said Derce Lara shot multiple rounds into a car carrying three parents and three children, just missing the victims.

Investigators conducted a search warrant with the assistance of the ATF and discovered numerous firearms, including rifles similar to those seen in the viral bridge video, linking Derce Lara to both instances.

Acevedo and Alarcon Sanchez have been charged with discharge of a firearm in specific localities, which is a class A misdemeanor. Derce Lara faces six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which is a first-degree felony.

Acevedo was released on bond, but Alarcon Sanchez and Derce Lara are kept on immigration detainers. “If you endanger lives in Dallas, we will identify you, conduct a thorough investigation, and hold you accountable,” Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux stated.

The investigation is underway. According to court records, a 19-year-old male will serve 18 years in jail for raping a lady aboard a CTA Blue Line train on the Northwest Side and physically assaulting a correctional officer while in custody.

Tyshawn Robinson was sentenced Thursday by Judge Charles Burns after pleading guilty to aggravated criminal sexual assault while committing another offense. He was 17 years old when the attack occurred on April 29, 2024, but was charged as an adult.

CTA surveillance video showed Robinson and the 38-year-old victim on the same train when Robinson attempted to contact her near the Addison station about midnight, according to officials.

The woman fled, but Robinson was after her, eventually seizing her and bringing her onto his lap, according to a detention petition. When she fought to break free, Robinson choked her with his elbow and forearm, prosecutors claimed.

Prosecutors claim Robinson forced the lady over a seat in the car and sexually assaulted her at least twice while she fought back. Officials described the attack as a “prolonged” assault that took place in front of witnesses. He ran when the train’s operator entered the car. Police in Chicago discovered him nearby shortly after.

Burns sentenced Robinson to 15 years in prison for the sexual assault and required him to register as a sex offender and comply with other requirements. According to court records, the judge also sentenced Robinson to a consecutive three-year sentence for aggravated violence against a peace officer, a charge he received while in detention.
