3 people arrested after large drug bust in South Carolina

Two men were taken into custody Friday after a multiagency narcotics investigation in Chester that resulted in the seizure of several illegal drugs, according to the Chester County Sheriff’s Office.

An investigation into illegal drug distribution led law enforcement agents to execute search warrants at residences near Sterling and Starnes streets. The Chester County Sheriff’s Office, the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division carried out the operation.

The ongoing investigation identified Anthony Waters and James Strong as suspects, and deputies detained them. During the searches, authorities found roughly 38 grams of MDMA, 13.2 grams of crack cocaine, and around four and a half pounds of marijuana.

Waters is charged with three counts of trafficking methamphetamine or cocaine, a second offense; two counts of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, a second offense; possession with intent to distribute Schedule I and II controlled substances; and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

He is also charged with various firearms-related offenses, including possessing a weapon during a violent crime, unlawful possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possessing a stolen pistol, and selling or delivering a firearm to an unlawful person.

Strong was charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.

A third person, Ruby Strong, was apprehended at the site on an unrelated Family Court bench warrant. All three individuals were taken to the Chester County Detention Center.
