A married couple from Southern California was arrested this week with nearly 500,000 lethal doses of fentanyl and 10 pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop near the Oregon border.
On Monday, February 23, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said that its highway enforcement team recently performed a car stop for a mechanical violation. During the stop, deputies said they observed criminal indicators, prompting a search of the vehicle.
According to the US Drug Enforcement Administration, deputies discovered 10 pounds of meth and 2.2 pounds of fentanyl inside, equivalent to around 500,000 deadly doses. The 44-year-old wife and 32-year-old husband from Earlimart, Calif., were both arrested for selling fentanyl and transporting meth.
Information about when and where the stop occurred and the couple’s names has not been released.
