A convenience store in far northwest suburban Harvard sold an Illinois Lottery ticket worth $1.15 million over the weekend.
The winning Lucky Day Lotto ticket was purchased at Chemung Country Store, 24102 Route 173, for the Saturday evening drawing.
The winning numbers were 2-15-28-31-43. The Lucky Day Lotto drawing on Saturday night sold nearly 74,000 winning tickets statewide, resulting in rewards exceeding $1.3 million.
Chemung Country Store has been a community staple for almost 40 years, according to co-owner Mark Smith. Our client base is primarily comprised of loyal, local consumers, so we’re all hoping the winner is one of our regulars,” Smith said in a statement.
The business will get a bonus of 1% of the jackpot reward, or $11,500, for selling the winning ticket. “We’ve celebrated a lot of winners over the years, but this award is one of our biggest,” Smith said, adding that the majority of the bonus will be reinvested in the company and some will be utilized to thank employees for their efforts.
Nearly 74,000 winning tickets were sold statewide in Saturday night’s Lucky Day Lotto drawing, totaling more than $1.3 million in rewards.
Winners have one year from the drawing date to claim their prize. The Illinois Lottery advises winners to sign the back of their tickets and store them in a secure location until they are ready to collect them.
Lucky Day Lotto is an Illinois-only game that draws twice a day at 12:40 p.m. and 9:22 p.m. The jackpots start at $100,000. Tickets can be purchased in-store, online, or via the Illinois Lottery app.
