An Illinois man has been charged with murder after his girlfriend’s body was discovered in a hotel dumpster.
The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office accepted a first-degree murder charge against Arturo F. Taylor, 54, of Fox Lake, Ill., on February 27, according to an Elk Grove Village Police Department statement.
Officers responded to a hotel on Landmeier Road about 4:18 a.m. on February 25 on a complaint of an unresponsive person. When police came, they discovered an adult woman deceased in a dumpster.
The medical examiner identified her as Colleen Bagley, 50, of Fox Lake, according to a police statement.
Her death was later ruled a homicide as a result of several sharp force injuries.
Bagley’s brother, Jason Ehardt, confirmed to The Chicago Tribune that Taylor was her lover. He stated that the loss of his sister came as a shock.
“I wish we had more time together,” Ehardt told the newspaper. “I’m going to miss her.”
According to police, Taylor stabbed Bagley many times during a disagreement in their hotel room.
According to prosecutors, security footage captured Taylor about 2 a.m. heading toward the dumpsters with a waste bag.
“Evidence indicates this was an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the community” the police statement said. “The Elk Grove Village Police Department extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.”
