Man discovered dead on local highway possibly hit multiple times by multiple vehicles, coroner says

The ramp runs along the border between North Franklin and Canton townships.

According to authorities, the victim was hit by many vehicles.

Around 4 a.m., the driver of a tractor-trailer contacted 911 to report a person lying on the roadway around 200 feet from the Chestnut Street ramp.

Emergency personnel arrived and pronounced the individual deceased on the scene.

Investigators did not specify where the initial hit occurred.

“It’s just sad to see something like that happen,” said Corey “C-God” Thacker, a resident nearby.

Thacker described the news as startling and unpleasant to hear.

“I could see everything occurring, but I didn’t realize they died. “That’s really sad,” he said.

Thacker finds the issue to be particularly personal.

He claimed that his mother was hit by a car years ago while walking to a gas station.

“It really changed her life completely,” Thacker added. “She didn’t die, but she broke her tibia and fibula and had to wear an external fixator on her leg.”

Neighbors said the area near the ramp has had previous close calls and that more safety upgrades are needed.

“Do you notice that little spot where there are no sidewalks? Thacker said, “That’s usually where people walk to the mall, and that’s where stuff like that happens.”

Investigators assume, but have not confirmed, that he was a pedestrian.

The Pennsylvania State Police continue to investigate the event.

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco invites anybody with information, especially those who may know who the deceased is, to contact Pennsylvania State Police at 724-223-5200 or the Washington County Coroner’s Office at 724-228-6785.
