Texas Man Taken Into Custody In Idaho After Alleged Multi-state Credit Card Scheme

Police detained a Texas man on Tuesday for allegedly committing fraud across the Treasure Valley and in multiple states.

Jiaxing Guan, 32, of Houston, Texas, was arrested in Caldwell by the Nampa Police Department with the aid of the Caldwell Police Department, according to a news release. Guan faces charges of burglary, forgery, and illicit possession of a bank card.

According to police on social media, the arrest stems from accusations of fraudulent behavior at a local grocery store, where Guan allegedly used stolen credit card information to purchase hundreds of dollars in gift cards, including an Easter basket. Police said the Easter basket appears to have no connection to the suspected offenses and was “likely an impulse purchase.”

Authorities believe Guan may have engaged in similar fraud in many states. He was caught while wearing a jacket with the words “No Risk, No Reward” and green dice on the back. Guan drove a white 2020 Toyota Camry with Texas plates.

The investigation is still underway, and authorities say they are seeking to identify all possible Idaho victims. Authorities encourage anyone who suspects the theft or unauthorized use of their credit card information to contact them.

Detectives encourage business owners and employees who may have witnessed Guan making recent purchases, possibly using self-checkout, to reach out.

Nampa Police investigators can be reached at 208-565-5144 or by email at [email protected]. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 208-343-COPS.
