A 16-year-old was shot and killed by someone he attempted to rob in Chicago’s West Pullman neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
Around 3:36 p.m., the 16-year-old, armed, approached a 27-year-old man on the 11700 block of South Normal and attempted to rob him, according to police.
The 27-year-old then pulled his own gun and shot the 16-year-old in the chest, authorities said.
The 16-year-old was brought to a local hospital and later pronounced dead, while the 27-year-old was transported to a nearby police station for questioning.
Authorities retrieved two handguns from the scene.
The investigation is underway.
