The man who pleaded guilty to robbing an Akron postal carrier at gunpoint was sentenced in the Summit County Court of Common Pleas on Monday.
In February, Aarynn Rodgers pled guilty to aggravated robbery and receiving stolen property.
Rodgers was sentenced on Monday to five to seven years for aggravated robbery, three years for the gun specification, and 18 months for receiving stolen items.
According to Akron police, on May 6, 2025, Rodgers and Dennis Harris targeted a mail carrier in the 700 block of Cordova Ave.
Police stated that they wanted his arrow key to open mailboxes.
Officers said Rodgers approached the carrier while wearing a ski mask and showed a gun.
According to authorities, after the mail carrier handed over his key, Rodgers escaped in a getaway car driven by Harris.
Officers tracked the automobile to a nearby apartment complex and apprehended the perpetrators after receiving a public tip.
According to authorities, they were apprehended when officers pursued them down.
Officers also said they retrieved the carrier’s key.
Harris is charged with obstructing justice. His trial is expected to start on May 19.
The mailman was not injured.
