A reported shoplifting incident at a Walmart store led to the detention of three people on drug-related charges, according to Richland Township Police.
Officers responded on March 18 after Walmart loss prevention reported a suspected shoplifter. Brittany Guthrie, a woman, was apprehended and found to be in possession of more than $800 in unpaid merchandise.
During the investigation, authorities located a large amount of suspected methamphetamine and discovered Guthrie had four outstanding warrants.
While on the site, officers executed a traffic stop on a car thought to be associated with Guthrie. Two men, Joshua Biery and Jeff Andlinger, were arrested.
All three suspects were taken to the Belmont County Jail.
Biery is charged with drug possession, possession of drug abuse instruments, possession of drug paraphernalia, and having an outstanding warrant.
Guthrie has been charged with theft, possession of drug abuse equipment, possession of drugs, and four outstanding warrants.
Andlinger faces charges of drug possession, drug abuse tools, and drug paraphernalia.
All suspects are deemed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
