On Monday, four people surrounded the man against a wall and pummeled him. Surveillance video obtained by 13 Action News shows the man being outnumbered, stomped, and kicked in the head.

The victim threw a garbage can lid in an attempt to defend himself, but the attackers continued to beat him and hurl insults.

Detectives reported that Crime Stoppers tips flooded in, and 20-year-old Cantrelle Henderson made himself simple to discover. He was wearing an ankle monitor during the attack.

Henderson was freed on March 22 after serving time for assault, escape, aggravated riot, and vandalism.

According to investigators, his parole officer obtained a video of the attack. Officers utilized the tape to determine the time and location of the attack, then cross-referenced Henderson’s ankle monitor to locate him at the scene.

He was detained for a parole violation and is now facing an extra assault accusation.

Three juveniles were also taken into custody.

According to police, the girl wearing the hat is a regular runaway, and her mother has been working with investigators for more than a month to find her. All three kids are facing assault charges.

“I know we’ve been in contact with some family members of people involved in it,” a detective stated. “I’m not sure what she told the detective, but she was definitely missing. She has obviously been located. She’s booked.”

Detectives stated that it is too early to determine whether this is a hate crime.

“Do you see this as a hate crime? I do not think so, but we don’t have enough facts. “I’m not sure how much we’ve talked to the victim yet,” a detective stated.

Police said the community response to the attack helped them solve the case, and they have a message for anyone who believes they can get away with such violence.

“It’s unfortunate that you did that in the first place. Plus, you were caught doing it, so you should be embarrassed,” a detective stated.
