Over 145 grams of cocaine were seized during a traffic check in western Wisconsin, which resulted in the arrest of an Indiana man and a man from Illinois.
According to deputies from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began with a traffic stop on a car without headlights at 8:20 p.m. on March 18. The vehicle was stopped on I-94 near Tomah.

Probable cause was apparently established during the check for drugs in the vehicle, prompting a search that found 145.5 grams of cocaine.
Authorities say the search resulted in the arrest of the driver, 24-year-old Shamarie Brown of Crown Point, Indiana, and a passenger, 50-year-old Sabranino Thompson of Harvey, Illinois.
According to the announcement, both men were arrested for carrying drug paraphernalia as well as possessing cocaine with the intent to manufacture, distribute, or deliver more than 40 grams. Thompson was also charged with obstruction for reportedly lying several times about his identity.
“The Sheriff’s Office is no stranger to significant seizures of cocaine, as this is the fourth time in the last seven months that the Sheriff’s Office has made arrests of subjects for this classification of cocaine,” according to the release issued by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Thompson received a $5,000 cash bond, while Brown received a $500 cash bond, at a court hearing on Thursday.
