Kelly O. Hayes, US Attorney for the District of Maryland, announced the sentencing alongside Special Agent in Charge Charles Doerrer of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and Chief George Nader of the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD).

On April 21, 2022, Prince George’s County police officers stopped McNair’s automobile for repeated traffic violations in Suitland, Maryland.

Before the traffic stop, authorities observed McNair driving his car for a further 18 seconds before coming to a complete stop. Officers referred to this as the “slow roll” tactic, which allows suspects to attempt to hide contraband before officers approach a vehicle.

When authorities eventually approached the vehicle, they smelled marijuana.

McNair then gave the authorities a driver’s license that belonged to someone else.

Officers instructed McNair to exit the vehicle after he gave them three bags of marijuana totaling 19.5 grams.

In response, McNair revved his car engine in an attempt to flee the scene.

McNair was pulled from the vehicle by officers and detained. Authorities then discovered a gun with nine rounds of.45 caliber ammunition in his truck.

Officers also discovered around 43.4 grams of a “white powdery substance” in a transparent baggie, 26 blue pills, drug paraphernalia, a digital scale, and a box of sandwich baggies.

Investigators said this is McNair’s sixth felony conviction. McNair was sentenced to 210 months in the District of Columbia on numerous charges of robbery last year.

As a result, he will serve his Maryland sentence in addition to his District of Columbia sentence.
