A drug dealer was sentenced to six years in prison for attempting to sell huge amounts of methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl to an informant, authorities reported Tuesday.
Cesar Penaloza was sentenced on Monday after pleading guilty to one count each of selling or carrying hazardous drugs and narcotic substances, according to the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.
He was also forced to pay over $11,700 in restitution for causing property damage while attempting to avoid police in October.
In addition, Penaloza must pay almost $12,500 in fines and fees.
“Drug traffickers who bring dangerous drugs into our communities should know that law enforcement is watching, and we will find and prosecute you,” Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes said in the statement.
Methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl seller fled from law enforcement
Prior to his arrest, Penaloza sold the informant 4 pounds of methamphetamine for $4,200 on August 19, 2025, according to authorities.
He then sold a quarter-kilogram of cocaine for $4,500 on September 3, 2025.
He then committed to sell a kilogram of fentanyl powder, one kilogram of cocaine, and ten pounds of methamphetamine for $39,000 on October 1, 2025, according to authorities.
When law enforcement arrived, Penaloza attempted to flee in his car. He drove over a curb and sidewalk, collided with a parked automobile, and then accelerated, forcing it into another car.
After his attempt to drive away failed, he parked and tried to flee, but authorities apprehended him immediately.
