Man Sentenced To Life In Prison Without Parole In 2024 Execution-style Killing

A man convicted of executing a 25-year-old victim faces life in jail without the possibility of release.

Djaune Ferguson learned his fate on Tuesday, after previously being found guilty of murder and aggravated murder in the 2024 death of Joshua Sherman.

Ferguson apologized briefly in court to the victim’s relatives while maintaining his innocence.

“I don’t feel like, you know, the witnesses, my witnesses, couldn’t testify,” Ferguson replied. So nobody ever heard my story. Nobody knows, and you know that I am innocent, your Honor. That’s all I want to say. “Thank you.”

Ferguson shot Sherman in the head when he was getting his hair cut at a residence in East Price Hill in October 2024, according to court records.

“The loss of Joshua has left a permanent void in our family, one that cannot be filled, repaired, or forgotten,” Sherman’s aunt stated in court on Tuesday. “Joshua was more than just a victim in this case; he was loved.”

Ferguson was freed from jail a month earlier and had been on parole for five years, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.

In November 2009, he was sentenced to 15 years in jail for armed robbery at the Fifth Third Bank in Oakley and a restaurant in Silverton, according to county court records.
