A 57-year-old East Boston man accused of running a fraudulent ticket scheme that targeted multiple victims has been taken into custody after a months-long investigation by Leicester Police Department detectives.
Officers from the Western Worcester County Major Crimes and Narcotics Task Force apprehended Robert Cheevers on April 4th in his East Boston residence. He was arrested on outstanding warrants stemming from claims that he stole money by providing professional sporting event tickets at discounted prices but never delivered the tickets.
According to the Newburyport Daily News, Cheevers is the son of Boston Bruins Hall of Fame goaltender Gerry Cheevers.
According to Leicester Police, Cheevers has a warrant issued by Leicester District Court for stealing over $1,200 via a single scheme. He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from Newburyport District Court for the same offense, as well as a warrant issued in Clark County, Nevada, for burglary, felony theft, and inadequate funds.
Cheevers was arraigned in East Brookfield District Court and is being held in the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Jail on cash bail.
