A man convicted of shooting into a crowd and injuring seven people has been sentenced to 167 years behind bars.
Frank Hewitt will be eligible for parole after 64 years.

Hewitt was convicted of seven counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, five counts of battery with a deadly weapon, two counts of battery with a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm, two counts of child abuse with a deadly weapon, and one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure.
“Seven lives were forever changed in a matter of seconds by the heinous actions of Mr. Hewitt,” DA Hicks stated. “Today’s sentence reflects the gravity of that harm and delivers accountability for each victim.”
The incident began on October 6, 2023, when a Reno Police Department officer responded to the Zephyr Cove Apartments for a noise complaint and heard gunshots from one of the apartments.
The officer then observed two masked guys fleeing the area, jumping into a car, and attempting to flee. The cop attempted to stop them but was unsuccessful.
Seven additional victims were discovered throughout the building, all with gunshot wounds.
During the inquiry, authorities determined that a group of teenagers and adults were partying in one of the apartment complex’s buildings on the night of the shooting.
Some of the gang had left to go to the convenience store, and when they returned, Hewitt and another man charged in and began fire. The two males fired 32 shots at the gathering in two bursts before fleeing.
During the trial, evidence was presented that showed Hewitt confessing to the crimes to a former gang member. Hewitt also stated that he intended to murder someone during the shooting to show himself to the gang.
