Downtown Chicago Shooting Leaves Man Injured And Woman Charged With Aggravated Battery

A woman has been charged in connection with a downtown Chicago shooting that critically injured a 33-year-old man, according to a news release from the Chicago Police Department.

The suspect, Kristin Holmes Tucker, 32, of the 700 block of South Financial Place, was arrested by CPD police on June 21, 2025, just hours after the alleged shooting in the city’s 1st District.

According to a Chicago Police Department press release, Holmes Tucker has been charged with one felony count of aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm. The incident occurred in the same location where she lives.

Victim Hospitalized With Serious Injuries

Authorities reported that during the altercation, they shot and critically injured the 33-year-old male victim. The facts surrounding the shooting have not yet been revealed; however, police stated the victim was discovered on the 700 block of South Financial Place.

Authorities have not disclosed the victim’s current condition.

Court Hearing Scheduled

Holmes Tucker is scheduled to appear for a detention hearing at 2600 S. California Avenue on June 23, 2025. The investigation is still ongoing, and officials say no other information is available at this time.

Recent Uptick in Downtown Crime

The event is part of a larger trend of heightened violent behavior in downtown Chicago, where reports of robberies, assaults, and shootings have surged recently. Following many high-profile events, police have increased their presence in the area surrounding Lou Malnati’s and other neighboring places.

“It’s alarming how frequent these shootings have become downtown,” said one local business owner, who asked not to be named.
