19-year-old Armed With Machine Gun Detained Twice In 48 Hours

A teenager armed with a machine gun and making threats against others was captured twice by Indianapolis police after he managed to throw away his weapon during a pursuit.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, an armed individual wearing a facemask was seen flashing pistols in a crowded downtown location on Sunday. Police were informed that he was wearing a backpack to conceal the guns.

ICE arrests more than 800 in Illinois amid protests and sanctuary policies

Officers observed the suspect, subsequently identified as 19-year-old Ajon Hall, entering a parking garage. A short foot chase ensued, but Hall was apprehended by police. Before being caught, police claim he hurled the rucksack 30 feet between two buildings.

“At the time, without being able to retrieve the backpack, officers only had enough probable cause to arrest Hall for resisting law enforcement,” according to a press statement from IMPD.

The next day, the Indianapolis Fire Department’s rope team was able to recover the knapsack Hall flung. Police claim the weapon contained a “machine gun conversion device and a high-capacity magazine.”

Detectives attempted to add charges to Hall’s arrest, but they discovered he had already been freed from jail. “They also learned that after being released, Hall began making death threats to known individuals,” according to IMPD.

Police used license plate scanner technology to rapidly locate Hall and pull him over during a traffic encounter. He was taken into prison without incident. “During this stop, another gun was found inside the vehicle with Hall,” according to the police.

Hall has been charged with two felonies: having a machine gun and making threats, as well as a misdemeanor for evading police.
