Three children and a man were detained Tuesday after attempting to carjack a person on Indianapolis’ southwest side.

IMPD officers arrived on West Wilkins Street, near South Belmont Avenue and West Morris Street. According to witnesses, the four suspects were wearing masks and armed with a rifle and a baseball bat. One of the criminals threatened the victim with a revolver and demanded his car keys. The victim informed investigators that he knew the automobile wouldn’t start, so he handed over the keys and walked inside his home.

When officers arrived, the suspects, who were unable to start the vehicle after attempting to steal it, fled and began leaping fences but were captured. Officers also retrieved the rifle and a face mask.

Authorities received information shortly before the attempted carjacking, spotting the same four suspects near a stolen SUV from Wisconsin with a damaged window. Eventually, they towed the automobile.

Police arrested all four individuals and charged them with preliminary charges of robbery and resisting law officers.

Officers identified the suspect as 18-year-old Jack Carcamo. According to court documents, his first court hearing is scheduled for next Tuesday.
