The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the United States Marshal Task Force, and Atlanta law enforcement apprehended a 25-year-old woman for allegedly being involved in a shooting on Indianapolis’ northwest side.
IMPD North District officers responded to reports of a walk-in person suffering a gunshot wound at a nearby hospital around 2:12 a.m. on July 5. Officers arrived and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The individual was listed as in critical condition.
The shooting originally occurred in the 1400 block of Burdsal Parkway on the city’s northwest side.
IMPD Aggravated Assault detectives arrived at the crime scene to begin their investigation. Detectives discovered an abandoned vehicle belonging to Christiona Hutchinson, 25, within hours of the shooting. An IMPD Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) firearms liaison officer discovered a firearm while processing the car and seized it as evidence.
Detectives identified Hutchinson as the shooter and issued a warrant for her arrest.
On Wednesday, detectives located Hutchinson in the Atlanta, Georgia region and worked with Atlanta law enforcement to detain her.
Hutchinson was detained on two active warrants linked to the investigation: one for battery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a major violent felon, and the other for a parole violation resulting from an armed robbery. She is awaiting extradition back to Indianapolis.
